So Proud to have been "A Portoran"...I will take the time to remember in writing soon but for now, I'm moved to say thanks to David "Mush" Robertson and Tom Thirgood.

It would be helpful if there was a Facebook link on this site. It would certainly help to increase traffic of Old Boys and reunite old friends

I was at Portora from '57 to '65, followed by TCD. This is the first time I have looked at the web-site and was interested to see Jim McCombs (Physics with Bertie Mills) had left a message in Jan '07. Should he ever get to see Tan Sun An in Singapore, ask him about the scouters outings in the minibus on Sunday afternoons with myself, Robin Mathers and Maisy McCoy. Great memories! Does Mr Mills still have an association with the school? I believe he took over Gloucester House?? and is Mrs (Rene) Benson still alive?

I knew there was a book printed recently and I kept meaning to order it from the school. I then saw it recently in a bookshop in Enniskillen one day I was visiting the town. As I looked through it ( prior to buying it ), the tears were rolling down my face. i am sure the shop assistant thought me very odd. All the best for the coming year to the School.

A message for Javad Khan... Hello Javad... Just talking about you this evening as my wife and I were reading the 400 year history of Portora " The School on The Hill"....conjured up a lot of good memories and reminded me of many that were left out!! You should order the book...it is worth it. When we last visited Portora I spotted a donation you had made..a ceremonial sword I believe? Remember the days of "extra fruit"??? Strikes me you could hurl an orange farther and faster than anyone....must have been practicing for the cricket team!! My brother Ken and I came to Canada fifty or more years ago and have enjoyed a good life here. Sadly Ken passed away three years ago but he made his mark in the "New World". I have lived most of my years in the city of Vancouver ..soon to be home to the 2010 Winter games. A fabulous city in wonderful surroundings! Maybe this exchange will find a few of the others we shared space with on the "Hill"....thanks to your family for making the connection. Alan ( Larry) MacKenna

Hoping to renew childhood friendship with Philip Malcolmson, if anyone could help, I would be very grateful. His family moved to California and I was wondering if Philip joined them.
