Portora Royal School is the Principal Venue Partner of the Happy Days Festival. We are delighted that the school's role in Samuel Beckett's development has been acknowledged. It has been school policy and practice to ensure that the performing and creative arts are at the centre of its endeavours and that the those endeavours continue to inform  and enrich the county.

Sam Beckett is the only Nobel Laureate who has attended Portora Royal school, but many other alumni have found global recognition for their work. Oscar Wilde remains a huge figure in literature and the words and spirituality of Henry Francis Lyte continue to inspire believers and non-believers as they sing his words, be it in our school assemblies, the FA Cup Final, or the Opening of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
