I was an exchange student at Portora in 1971-72 and resided in Ulster House. My two study mates were Peter Johnson and Robin Shepard (Scotty). I was just wanting to find out if they are well.

For Headmaster Dear Neil, many congratulations on your award of the OBE. It is really good to see someone who really deserves it getting the award. Iwas sat in my caravan in the Algarve reading the Daily Mail and I saw your citation and today Ihave seen a tv clip and you really havent. Changed very much from those days that you cheered us on at crosscountry in a funny wooly hat. Not bad for a wee lad from Annadale Grammar School. I had a great career as a Physio in the RAMC and am now retired. Great to hear of your award. Do enjoy. Best regarsd, Alan

I am an old Portoran (attending from 1936 to 1939). I remember Billy McComb well, who went on to become a world-renowned magician. I still possess a copy of our official school photograph, although it is not so easy to put other names to faces! Currently I am enjoying my lengthy retirement from British Telecomms in the wonderful Edinburgh seaside resort of Portobello. I would love to hear from anyone else who has such longstanding memories of the great school!

I was always aware of the school's significance and its illustrious former pupils so I keenly look forward to attending the 2013 Happy Days Samuel Beckett Festival this month and visiting Portora. I am sure it will be both enjoyable and memorable! Best wishes, Stan Howes Belfast

To whom it may concern, Allow me to introduce myself: My name is Patrick Walsh and I would be considered to be the foremost authority on the works of Oscar Wilde in Ireland. I was the recipient of the Guinness Living Dublin Award for my highly commended entry on a project I undertook on Oscar Wilde in 2000 for the centenary of his death. I produced a book, dvd, poster and bookmarkers to mark this event for various colleges and bookshops. I have been on a number of TV & radio shows discussing Oscar Wilde’s life and works and these can be seen on You Tube and Facebook. In 2012 I was approached by ITV to appear on the popular TV show ‘Come Dine with Me’, to host an evening with Oscar Wilde. I am invited as a guest speaker in the American College Dublin, formerly childhood home of Oscar Wilde, for Culture evening each September in Dublin which is opened once a year to the general public. I am available for after dinner speeches (corporate & academic) and lectures to schools, libraries, colleges, museums and universities as well as arts festivals etc. A light-hearted and informative evening titled: ‘An Evening with Oscar Wilde’. You can see various TV clips on YouTube oscarwildegenius and Facebook oscarwildegenius. Look forward to hearing from you, Kind regards, Patrick Walsh.

It is with much sadness that I have just learned of the passing of Ed Rowlette my english teacher 63 to 69 Ed was in his mid 90's and recently had been a resident of the graan nursing home enniskillen. As far as I am aware this leaves only one teacher from my time at portora mr bryan Morwood who is a resident of The Tilery Nursing Home at Florencecourt

I wish to pass on my best wishes and congratulations to all those who were involved in the Thanksgiving Service for HM Queen Elizabeth 2 in Enniskillen to-day, especially the flautist and the young men and ladies of the ensemble who sang the Londonderry Aire. It was a joy to behold and exemplary in it's presentation being a credit to the school in general and the young people in particular.
